If hump day has got you down, head to a class that will teach you how to bring your soul to work. You can also learn how to crochet or attend an author lecture at the Atlanta History Center at events this week.

Conscious Business: Bring your soul to work

For anyone who has ever felt a divide between who they are and how they present themselves at work or that the work they do doesn’t fit with their life purpose, this class is for you. Lorri Palko will help you explore how to align your values, intentions and actions by shifting limiting self-beliefs and discoverin­g how you can blend your spiritual and business principles. Crochet 101: Beginner

In this class, beginners or those looking for a refresher can learn the ins and outs of crochet. The course covers all the basics including yarn selection and different uses, which hooks to use, creating chains, single crochet, double crochet and finishing. Instructor­s will also offer some very useful tips and tricks to help you get started as well as problem solving for common mistakes. C.J. Chivers, ‘The Fighters: Americans in Combat in Afghanista­n and Iraq’

Catch New York Times senior writer C.J. Chivers as he discusses his book, “The Fighters,” (Simon & Schuster, $28), a portrait of six combatants who are among the 2 million Americans to have served in Afghanista­n or Iraq since Sept. 11, 2001. Chivers, who served as an infantry veteran in the U.S. Marine Corps, offers an empathetic and understand­ing look at the human side of the two wars. $10. 8 tonight. Atlanta History Center, 130 W.
