MUSIC PICKS

- Melissa Ruggieri

SATURDAY One Musicfest

It all started with an idea by founder Jason “J” Carter to create an “urban cultural Woodstock.” Now heading into its ninth year, One Musicfest has grown tremendously since its inaugural year in a venue parking lot. With a marquee lineup heavy on Atlanta names (T.I., Big Boi, 2 Chainz, Monica) and an expansion to two days in Atlanta’s Central Park, it isn’t an understatement to declare this the biggest OMF yet. Miguel, Big Sean, Big Boi, T.I., August Greene, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, H.E.R., Big K.R.I.T. and many more. Noon-11 p.m. Sept. 8; noon-10 p.m. Sept. 9. Two-day general admission $140; single-day general admission $75; twoday VIP $250; two-day platinum experience $750. Central Park, 400 Merritts Ave. NE., Atlanta. 1-800-7453000, onemusicfest.com.

Phillip Phillips

The Leesburg native and “American Idol” alum continues to roll along with a steady career that produced a third studio album (“Collateral”), released earlier this year, and a coheadlining tour with Gavin DeGraw. The affable Phillips is fronting his own handful of dates in support of the new album and his latest single, “Magnetic.” Sept. 8. $25-$65. Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, 201 McIntosh Trail, Peachtree City. 1-877-725-8849, ticketalternative.com.

WEDNESDAY Paul Simon

It’s understandable to be skeptical about “final” tours (see: Cher, Kiss), but Simon’s claim seems legit. The folk-pop superstar turns 77 this fall, and he’s established a truly final show in his hometown of Queens, N.Y., 10 days after saying goodbye to Atlanta and many, many “Old Friends.”

8 p.m. Sept. 12. Cellairis Amphitheatre at Lakewood, 2002 Lakewood Way, Atlanta. 1-800-7453000, livenation.com
