Aldi sets hiring event

Aldi, the grocery chain with stores in 20 countries, plans to hire more than 100 people on Monday for stores in Georgia.

The hiring event will take place inside stores that day, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then from 3 to 6 p.m. Aldi is hiring store associates, shift managers and manager trainees. These jobs range in pay from $11.65 to $23 per hour.

After this initial one-day hiring spree, Aldi then plans to hire more than 1,000 workers for permanent full-time positions across various stores, warehouses and corporate offices across the country in September and October.

A press release from the company says Aldi is investing more than $5.3 billion to remodel current stores and to expand to 2,500 stores in the United States by 2022.

Aldi currently has more than 1,800 stores in 35 states. In Georgia, it operates stores in Atlanta, Augusta, Calhoun, Canton, Carrollton, Cartersvil­le, College Park, Columbus, Conyers, Covington, Cumming, Dacula, Decatur, Douglasvil­le, Duluth, Fayettevil­le, Gainesvill­e, Griffin, Hiram, Johns Creek, Jonesboro, Kennesaw, LaGrange, Lawrencevi­lle, Lilburn, Lithonia, Loganville, Lovejoy, Mableton, Marietta, McDonough, Milton, Newnan, Norcross, Oakwood, Peachtree City, Peachtree Corners, Rome, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Smyrna, Snellville, Stockbridg­e, Suwanee, Tucker, Warner Robins, Winder and Woodstock.

To apply for open jobs, applicants must be at least 18 and be able to lift at least 45 pounds. It is preferred that applicants have a high school diploma or GED and have retail experience.
