WILSON, Elizabeth Appleton "Libba"

Sara Elizabeth "Libba" Wilson died peacefully on September

12, surrounded by her family.

Libba was born May 20, 1937 in Montgomery, Alabama to parents Wesley Howard and

Sara Elizabeth Appleton. She was raised in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Northside

High School in 1955. She attended Stephens College in

Columbia, Missouri and graduated Auburn University with a degree in art in 1959.

While at Auburn, she met her future husband George Wilson with whom she had two sons, Brett W. Wilson (Patricia) and Clayton B. Wilson (Sherry).

Libba took great pride in her four grandchildren, Taylor W. Wilson, Victoria E. Wilson, Elizabeth B. Wilson, and Sara M. Wilson.

They will always be comforted by their memories of "Nana" who shared her passion of travel, baking, the arts, nature, and charity with them. She was always quick to remind them of their Southern manners.

Libba touched everyone with her infectious laugh, her loyal friendship, her generosity, her positive spirit, and her unwavering Christian faith.

Her natural curiosity and zest for learning led to a lifelong passion for travel, often with her beloved sister, Mary Coker Appleton. Together they visited five continents, all 50 U.S. states, and 28 countries.

She is also survived by extended family throughout Mississippi, Alabama, and the rest of the country.

Her spirit will live among us forever.

A service in her memory will be held Saturday, September 15 at 11:00 a.m. at H.M. Patterson & Son-Spring Hill Chapel at 1020 Spring St., Atlanta, GA 30309. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southwest Christian Care Hospice (swchristiancare.org) or the Alzheimers Foundation (alz.org).
