Be sure to check out Aldi’s middle aisle because it rocks

- Clark Howard

If you only shop Aldi for the super-cheap prices on groceries, then you could be missing out on half the potential savings.

Every Al di store has a centrally located aisle that features a rotating stock of non-food items. From electronics to furniture to clothing, that’s where you’ll find great buys on household products and other essentials.

Aldi happens to be a favorite of several of us here on Team Clark, so let’s take a look at some of the best middle aisle buys we’ve purchased and continue to use in our everyday lives:

Sarah: Aldi pressure cooker

I got this stovetop Crofton 6.3-qt. stainless steel pressure cooker about two years ago for $39.99. This was about the same time that the Instant Pot was becoming really popular, but it was over $100 and I didn’t want to spend that much on a kitchen appliance. This stovetop pressure cooker gives me the same quick cooking abilities at a fraction of the cost.

John: Aldi ice maker

When we found this Ambiano portable ice-maker in the middle aisle last summer it was perfect timing because the one in our freezer had just gone out. I think we paid $79. It works like a dream, making the first ice about 10 minutes after you turn it on, and it’s capable of making more than a pound of ice an hour. We still use it when we’re entertaining.

Beth: Aldi decorative candy canes

My favorite Aldi purchase is a pack of light-up candy canes that we use to decorate our house for Christmas. They have different blinking and fading options, but the best part is that they were only $15!

Theo: Aldi vacuum

With two children and two dogs to have to pick up after, I need multiple vacuums in the house. This stick vacuum from Aldi was $14.99, and the suction is great.

Here a re a couple of honorary mentions from Theo:

Aldi pleated window shade

I saw these pleated window shades for $3.99. While I have yet to hang them, I expect they’ll make for a cheap solution in a room where the existing blinds are falling apart.

Aldi $15 men’s sneakers

My favorite $14.99 sneakers ever. They’re just about the cheapest pair I’ve ever worn and one of the most comfortable, too.

The thing about shopping Al di’ s middle a isle is that items are available in limited quantities while supplies last. So you have to shop early if you want to get the best selection, particularly for things l ike footwear tha tco mes in multiple sizes.
