Mexican restaurant fails probe

A Cobb County Mexican restaurant failed a recent health inspection. Casanova on Powder Springs Road in Marietta scored 62/U on Sept. 19. Previous scores were 90/A on Dec. 14, 2017 and 91/A on Jan. 24, 2017.

Among violations:

■ No separation between raw foods and read-to-eat foods. Raw poultry and meats must be store separately or below ready to eat, cooked foods to avoid cross contaminat­ion and potential foodborne illness.

■ Food inside the reach-in cooler was left uncovered.

■ The chip container, can opener blade and margarita machine had accumulati­on of food debris and black substance underneath them.

■ Salsa, sliced tomatoes and tomato base were at temperatur­es above 41 degrees inside the reach-in coolers.

■ Sanitizing solution wasn’t strong enough. It should 50-100 parts per million of clorine.

■ There was a heavy accumulati­ons of grease and food debris between and behind equipment, side of the prep top cooler lid, inside the reach in coolers, unused equipment, chip holder drawers and container lids for bulk products.

■ Floor tiles inside the kitchen and walk in cooler, doors of the walk in cooler and freezer and walls were is disrepair.

Most facilities with failed scores are reinspecte­d within 10 days.
