Music and Dancing Goat Folkfest

Fall is here and good weather means you can still enjoy outdoor festivals and music under the stars.

Hammonds House Museum has jazz featuring Russell Gunn and the Royal Krunk Jazz Orkestra with Dionne Farris or you can take a short drive to Ellijay for the Dancing Goat Folkfest.

Here’s to a fun-packed weekend.

Russell Gunn’s Royal Krunk Jazz Orkestra

Are you ready for an amazing night of music under the stars?

Join Russell Gunn and the Royal Krunk Jazz Orkestra during a rousing soundtrack to Hammonds House Museum’s 30th Anniversar­y Celebratio­n.

The Royal Krunk Jazz Orkestra is an ultra modern contempora­ry jazz big band, led and conducted by trumpeter Russell Gunn. It features vocals by Dionne Farris. The ensemble pays homage to the tradition of jazz while extending the boundaries into funk, hip hop and soul.

Dancing Goat Folkfest

If you want to be part of an old mountain party Saturday and Sunday, visit the “Dancing Goat Folkfest” in downtown Ellijay.

This juried folk art show will present the work of untrained artists, known and new and sharing the old mountain music and oral traditions.

There will be food, music and activities for the whole family.

The music will be local and the storytelli­ng will recall the old mountain tales.

Decatur Tiny House Festival

In a city full of McMansions, big isn’t always the best way to go.

The two-day annual Decatur Tiny House Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday on Electric Avenue.

The event gives people a glimpse of tiny living and the tiny house movement. Tour nearly two dozen tiny houses and meet with tiny house newbies and veterans.

DIY tiny house builder Andrea Burns will share designing tips. There will also be vendors and other activities.
