Six games open to full capacity

Atlanta United’s home of Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be open to full capacity for at least six games in the 2019 season, theteam announced Thursday.

The league schedule won’t be released to the public until January. Any additional full-capacity games will be determined by the schedule, among other factors.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium was open to full capacity twice for two regular-season

games and again for a playoff game last season. It was originally scheduled to be open four times to full capacity this season. The team later added a fifth game. It hasn’t been said if the stadium will open to full capacity for its first playoff game Nov. 11.

Atlanta United led the league in attendance last season (48,200) and leads it again this season with an average of more than 50,000. It also set a single-game playoff record (67,221) against Columbus on Oct. 26, 2017.

■ 72,017 vs. Real Salt Lake on Sept. 22, 2018

■ 71,932 vs. Orlando City on June 30, 2018

■ 70,425 vs. Orlando City

on Sept. 16, 2017
