Seattle group makes its expansion pitch
Prospective owners of a Seattle expansion team made their case to the NHL Board of Governors’ executive committee. The full board could vote as soon as Dec. 3 to award a franchise to Seattle. That would keep open the possibility of the team starting play in the 2020-21 season.
■ The Toronto Maple Leafs’ goalie depth is suddenly thin after losing Curtis McElhinney and Calvin Pickard on waivers. McElhinney was claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes. Pickard was claimed by Philadelphia. Two other players were claimed hours before NHL teams were required to set 23-player rosters. Washington added St. Louis forward Dmitrij Jaskin. Buffalo claimed left wing Remi Elie from Dallas.
