Is there a facility in Fulton County where I can dispose of old medicine?

A: Free drop-off locations in Atlanta, which are listed on the Fulton County government website, include the Fulton County Courthouse (185 Central Ave. SW and 136 Pryor St. SW), Fulton County Government Center (141 Pryor St. SW and 130 Peachtree St. SW), Fulton County Juvenile Court- house (395 Pryor St. SW) and Fulton County Jail Visitation Trailer (901 Rice St.).

In south Fulton, locations include Union City/ Fulton County Jail (6500 Watson St., Union City) and the Fulton County South Service Center (5600 Stonewall Tell Road, College Park). In north Fulton, locations include Fulton County Jail/Alpharetta Annex (2565 Old Milton Parkway, Alpharetta) and Fulton County North Service Center (7741 Roswell Road, Atlanta).

The U.S. Drug Enforcemen­t Agency (DEA) website provides a search tool to find local collection sites, which include retail and hospital/clinic pharmacies and law enforcemen­t locations: deadiversi­on. usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/ index.html

The DEA also has a National Prescripti­on Drug Take Back Day; the next one is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 27. You can search for collection locations participat­ing in that event on this website (deadiversi­on. usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/ takeback/index.html).

A brief search shows locations including the Decatur Police Department, Smyrna Police Department and East Point Police Department.
