FLOWERY BRANCH — Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, who has an ankle injury, returned to practice Thursday and was limited, according to the official injury report.

They are hopeful he can make it back for the Giants’ game on “Monday Night Football.”

“We’ll take a good look at him starting today,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said Thursday. “Give him a little bit more work each day. If we can get him back ... that would definitely give a shot to us in terms of adding another guy who can penetrate and disrupt. That’s at the core of who we are up front.”

Cornerback Justin Bethel (ankle which was formerly listed as a knee) and defensive end Derrick Shelby (groin) were also limited at practice.

Wide receiver Calvin Ridley (ankle), wide receiver Mohamed Sanu (hip) and kicker Matt Bryant (hamstring) did not practice. Ridley caught some passes and went through the stretching drills.

Jarrett suffered his injury in the third quarter against the Bengals on Sept. 30. He didn’t play against the Steelers on Oct. 7 and the Bucs on Oct. 14.

“I’ve never missed back-toback games ever,” Jarrett said. “That was definitely a tough pill for me to swallow. … I’m excited about the road that’s ahead. It didn’t do nothing but add more fuel to the tank. A little extra sense of urgency. I’m excited to get back.”

Jarrett wouldn’t put a percentage on his recovery.

“If I’m on the field, I’m good,” he said. “Don’t worry about that.”
