Additions to the operating hours for Cobb County Public Libraries will start on Nov. 5.

Changes include earlier opening times and the restoration of hours at Cobb libraries with hours that were reduced in 2011.

One highlight is expansion of Saturday morning hours for Cobb County libraries, opening at 10 a.m.

“Expanded hours will increase access for the community for all Cobb libraries offer,” said Cobb Library Director Helen Poyer in a statement. “New hours are good news for Cobb in support of family engagement, promotion of student success, new opportunities to add public libraries to your weekend routine and much more.”

Highlights of the new library hours include:

■ The Thursday and Friday opening time will be 10 a.m. at the large libraries — Switzer, West Cobb, Mountain View, South Cobb, East Cobb and Sewell Mill — and mid-size libraries — Gritters, Kemp, Kennesaw, Powder Springs, Stratton and Vinings. Thursday and Friday hours at the large and mid-size libraries will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

■ The four small libraries — Acworth, Lewis A. Ray, Sibley and Sweetwater Valley — will be open from 1 p.m. to 6p.m. Thursdays and Fridays.

■ Saturday hours will change to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for all Cobb libraries, except for the Windy Hill location, which will have no change in its schedule of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Sunday hours will be unchanged for the regional libraries of Switzer, Mountain View, South Cobb and West Cobb libraries from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Nov. 11 is the first Sunday for the West Cobb Regional Library since it was closed for a paint and carpet renovation project for one month.
