Upcoming closings: DMV office, neighborhood road.

After two decades of help- ing people who don’t really want to be there, a Cobb County tag office is closing.

Cobb Tax Commissioner Carla Jackson will close the location, 700 S. Cobb Drive in Marietta, by the end of November, the county posted Sunday on Facebook.

“The complexity of ret- rofitting today’s security, technology and business functions into that struc- ture while striving to deliver exceptional customer service would be extremely costly and challenging,” Jackson said in a news release.

The employees will be transferred to the reno- vated office at 2932 Canton Road, where there are new workstations. That overhaul cost $300,000 of funds left over from the 2017 budget, county spokesman Ross Cavitt said at the time.

The office was revamped to now handle property tax in addition to motor vehi- cle issues.

The following locations, unless noted, are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday:

■ North office: 2932 Canton Road, suite No. 300 in Marietta

■ West office: 3858 Kemp Ridge Road in Acworth

■ South office: 4700 Austell Road in Austell

■ East office: 4400 Lower Roswell Road in Marietta

■ Self-service kiosks: 4700 Austell Road in Austell (available 24/7)

■ Self-service kiosks at Kroger: 3240 S. Cobb Drive in Smyrna (available 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.)
