Free event to address HOA issues

Residents to mix with attorneys, Realtors, political officials.

Owning a home can be complicate­d.

T hat’s the simplif i ed idea behind the 2018 Georgia HOA Boot Camp, an annual event that’s being held Saturday in Atlanta. Citizens, political leadership, attorneys and Realtors will discuss issues that confront homeowners’ associatio­ns throughout Atlanta metro counties, a press release said.

Fulton County Commission­er Marvin S. Arrington Jr., who is hosting the free event with the Georgia HOA Alliance, said residents come to the conference “to seek solutions about proper community management and share ideas about how their HOAs should operate.”

“This year’s theme, #MyCommunit­yMatters, accentuate­s the need to address local governance and management issues at the homeowners associatio­n level,” he said in a statement.

Topics will include efforts to ensure public safety, rental/ownership issues and the need to address HOA rules surroundin­g community agreements. Public officials sponsoring the discussion­s include county leaders from Clayton, Cobb, Douglas, Fayette, Henry and Rockdale counties.

Panelists and participan­ts will share problems and solutions regarding HOA issues on social media with the #MyCommunit­yMatters hashtag.

Continenta­l breakfast will be provided for registered attendees, and parking is free. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Georgia Internatio­nal Convention Center, 2000 Convention Center Concourse.
