Miles discussing Kansas coaching job

Les Miles could be back in the Big 12 soon. The former Oklahoma State coach, who led LSU to the 2007 national championsh­ip and was fired four games into the 2016 season, is in negotiatio­ns to take over the Kansas Jayhawks, a person with knowledge of the discussion­s told The Associated Press. Miles would take over for David Beaty, who was fired two weeks ago but is finishing out his fourth season. Miles, 65, turned around Oklahoma State over four years before leaving for LSU. There, he inherited Nick Saban’s powerhouse, won a national title three years later, then lost to Saban and Alabama in the national championsh­ip game following the 2011 season.

■ The annual Big Game between Stanford and California scheduled for Saturday was postponed two weeks because of the unhealthy air quality in the Bay Area from a wildfire some 150 miles to the north. Cal announced the game would be played Dec. 1 in Berkeley, Calif. Several other college sports events in California were moved, reschedule­d or canceled this week.

■ Houston QB D’Eriq King is expected to miss the rest of the season after tearing the meniscus in his knee. He has 50 TDs (36 passing, 14 rushing) to lead the nation. Homestead-Miami Speedway.

■ Tyler Reddick won the Xfinity Series finale and the season championsh­ip. The title for JR Motorsport­s is its second consecutiv­e Xfinity championsh­ip and third in five years. The race was the final event for Elliott Sadler, a JR Motorsport­s driver who is calling it a career after 23 seasons.
