Check out two new spots for coffee

There are two new spots to get your caffeine fix in Atlanta.

Birmingham-based Revelator Coffee opened its newest location earlier this month at 101 Marietta St., featuring a variety of coffee drinks and food items.

The company, which acquired Octane Coffee in April 2017, already owns several stand-alone Revelator coffee shops and instore counters in Atlanta, as well as Octane locations in West Midtown, Midtown and Tech Village. There are also locations in Nashville, New Orleans, Charleston, Birmingham and Chattanooga. The downtown Atlanta location will be open from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday.

In addition, Docent Coffee made its debut earlier this month in Old Fourth Ward at 381 Edgewood Ave. SE, in the space previously occupied by Cafe + Velo.

Docent’s coffees were already available for purchase online and at some local coffee shops, as well as at local events via its mobile barista cart. This new venture sees the opening of a coffee roastery, as well as a retail coffee and cafe component that serves breakfast and lunch.

The menu will feature baked goods and light madeto-order fare. Also look for coffee drinks and an extensive tea program.

Docent also hopes to promote local art — a local artist’s work is featured on the front of each of the roaster’s 10 coffees, including R.Land, Kyle “BlackCatTips” Brooks, and Sarah Emerson. Docent also promotes the artists’ websites on its own site, and plans to host curated events and shows both on and offsite.

Docent is open from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
