Thai eatery fails recent inspection

A Thai restaurant in Little Five Points failed a recent health inspection. Thai 5 on Euclid Avenue scored 58/U on Nov. 29. Previous scores were 88/B on April 16 and 73/C on April 9.

The inspector noted several violations in the report:

■ Employees were eating in food preparatio­n areas in the main kitchen and sushi bar areas.

■ There was no soap or paper towels at a hand-washing sink located in the main kitchen area.

■ There were dented cans in the storage area.

■ There was an excessive accumulati­on of a black mold-like substance inside the nozzle of soda gun dispenser located in the sushi bar area and on the interior of an ice machine located in the sushi bar area.

■ Cold foods were stored at temperatur­es above 41 degrees.

■ Hot foods were held at temperatur­es below 135 degrees.

■ The facility was dirty with an accumulati­on of old encrusted food debris and liquids on the floors, walls, shelves and gaskets of reach in coolers and an accumulati­on of dust, grease and old food debris on the floors, walls and ceilings throughout the facility.

■ There were live flies and dead insects throughout the facility.

Most restaurant­s with failed scores are reinspecte­d within 10 days.
