The Alpharetta City Council has approved a $2.9 million change order for the Rucker Road Corridor improvement project, reflecting Roswell’s share of the project cost.

Alpharetta previously awarded a $15 million contract to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. Inc. for the work. Alpharetta and Roswell have an intergovernmental agreement for the project, as Rucker runs through both communities.

“While Alpharetta was in the construction phase, Roswell was preparing plans and obtaining the necessary right of way for construction for the improvements within Roswell,” according to a staff memo to the Alpharetta City Council.

The two cities agreed to have Alpharetta obtain a change order price from Matthews for the Roswell work, and Roswell in turn would reimburse Alpharetta for that work, staff said.

The TSPLOST project creates a continuous corridor of new sidewalks, turn lanes, bike lanes, roundabouts and other improvements from Houze Road in Roswell to Wills Road in Alpharetta. Anticipated completion date of the Roswell section is the late summer of 2019. capital costs of the Cherokee Area Transportation System bus service.
