County Water Authority earns top awards
Clayton County Water Authority staff earned several top awards during the Georgia Association of Water Professionals Fall Conference held in Dalton in November, according to a press release.
CCWA’s Northeast Water Reclamation Facility, located in Rex, earned the Water Environment Federation’s George W. Burke Safety Award. The W.B. Casey Water Resource Recovery Facility’s Wastewater Laboratory staff earned the Laboratory Quality Assurance at a Municipal Wastewater Laboratory Award for the Greater than 20 million gallons per day category.
Conveyance maintenance staff brought home its 4rd Collection System Platinum Award. Waste- water collection (or conveyance) system programs focus on maintenance of the sewer lines that collect sewage from homes and businesses and safely transport it through a network of pipes to the treatment plants.
Distribution maintenancestaff brought home its 4rd Distribution System Gold Award. Water distribution system programs focus on maintenance of the water lines that deliver potable water from CCWA’s system to homes and businesses. commissioner Reid Bowman with a bronze marker.
Members of Bowman’s family were on hand for the event along with friends, county officials, present and former commissioners and public safety personnel.
Bowman, who died in June, served two terms as commissioner for that area after being elected in 2006 and 2010.
The marker denotes him as “a dedicated public servant who served the citizens of Henry County by providing exceptional leadership and a powerful voice to advocate for the needs of citizens during his eight-year tenure. ... Through his commitment as a public official, Commissioner Bowman leaves a legacy of faith, love and service to the citizens of Henry County.”
