The holidays are upon us. If you’re looking for activities for the family, you can check out a classic Christmas movie on the big screen, enter a discussion of superheroe­s and social justice and, hey grown-ups, how about a chance to shake a leg?

Ralphie encounters Santa Claus and yearns for that Red Ryder BB gun in the timeless “A Christmas Story,” showing today at the Krog Street Market. Senior Holiday Ball at the Sanford Performing Arts Center

Subtitled “Sometimes A Senior’s Just Gotta Dance!” this holiday shindig takes place at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts Center in Decatur. The catered holiday affair includes a D J, a live band and prizes. Semi-formal attire is recommende­d. Short Films on Yayoi Kusama at the High Museum

In conjunctio­n with the exhibition “Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors,” the High will present screenings of short films capturing several of the artist’s performanc­es from the 1960s, as well as more recent short films of Kusama singing, performing, and reciting poems.
