Green Bay Packers run- ning back Aaron Jones will miss the final two games of the season after being placed on injured reserve.

The team’s leading rusher left the 24-17 loss to Chicago on Sunday in the first quarter with a knee injury. The defeat helped eliminate the Packers from playoff contention. Jones ran for 728 yards and eight touchdowns on 133 carries in 12 games, including eight starts. He was among the league leaders in averaging 5.5 yards per attempt.

Chargers: All indication­s point to Melvin Gordon returning to the backfield for Saturday’s game against Baltimore. The fourth-year running back was a full participan­t during Tuesday’s practice. Gordon has missed the last three games after spraining the MCL in his right knee Nov. 26.

College football: South Carolina coach Will Muschamp and three assistants received contract extensions. Muschamp got a one-year extension through 2024. Offensive coordinato­r Bryan McClendon received a twoyear extension, while defensive coordinato­r Travaris Robinson and QBs coach Dan Werner got one-year extensions. Muschamp is 22-16 and the first Gamecocks coach to make a bowl in each of his first three seasons.

MLB: Lance Lynn signed a $30 million, three-year contract with the Rangers, completing a deal that was reached last week during the winter meetings subject to a successful physical. The 31-year-old right-hander is 21-18 with a 4.04 ERA in 64 games over the past two seasons since missing 2016 following Tommy John surgery.
