Major shipping company to create 363 jobs

Gov. Nathan Deal recently announced that Hapag-Lloyd America, LLC, a multinatio­nal transporta­tion company, will create 363 jobs and invest $5.5 million in an expansion of the Hapag-Lloyd Quality Service Center at 5515 Spalding Drive in Peachtree Corners. New jobs will include positions in administra­tion, technical support and customer service.

“As a leading internatio­nal transporta­tion company, HapagLloyd America will strengthen its competitiv­e edge by utilizing our deep talent pool and continuing to grow here,” Deal said.

Hapag-Lloyd, which merged with United Arab Shipping Co. in 2017, is one of the leading operators in the Transatlan­tic, Middle East, Latin America and Intra-America trades. With 230 vessels and more than 12,000 employees, Hapag-Lloyd is the fifth-largest shipping company in the world, serving customers in 127 countries. Following this expansion, the Hapag-Lloyd Quality Service Center will handle the majority of the company’s non-sales related activities in the U.S. nomic developmen­t in Gwinnett at 6 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Centervill­e Community Center, 3025 Bethany Church Road in Snellville.

Kendrick will be joined by Chairwoman Charlotte Nash from the Gwinnett County Board of Commission­ers. Nash and Colleen Kiernan with MARTA will give a joint presentati­on on the MARTA contract in Gwinnett.
