Major shipping company to create 363 jobs
Gov. Nathan Deal recently announced that Hapag-Lloyd America, LLC, a multinational transportation company, will create 363 jobs and invest $5.5 million in an expansion of the Hapag-Lloyd Quality Service Center at 5515 Spalding Drive in Peachtree Corners. New jobs will include positions in administration, technical support and customer service.
“As a leading international transportation company, HapagLloyd America will strengthen its competitive edge by utilizing our deep talent pool and continuing to grow here,” Deal said.
Hapag-Lloyd, which merged with United Arab Shipping Co. in 2017, is one of the leading operators in the Transatlantic, Middle East, Latin America and Intra-America trades. With 230 vessels and more than 12,000 employees, Hapag-Lloyd is the fifth-largest shipping company in the world, serving customers in 127 countries. Following this expansion, the Hapag-Lloyd Quality Service Center will handle the majority of the company’s non-sales related activities in the U.S. nomic development in Gwinnett at 6 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Centerville Community Center, 3025 Bethany Church Road in Snellville.
Kendrick will be joined by Chairwoman Charlotte Nash from the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners. Nash and Colleen Kiernan with MARTA will give a joint presentation on the MARTA contract in Gwinnett.
