BeltLine Partnership seeks bike tour guides

- PAMELA MILLER FOR THE AJC

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership is looking for new guides to join its popular Atlanta BeltLine Bike Tour program, according to a news release.

It offers free 10-mile, three-hour tours of the Eastside and Westside Trails on alternating Saturday mornings starting at 9. With the anticipated opening of the Southside Trail (as interim trail) in the spring, the organization expects to add even more tours to the program. Tours are capped at 25 participants and typically get 15-20 participants for each tour. The season runs from March/April through November.

Tour guides play one of two roles on each tour. One guide leads the tour and shares information with tourgoers about the past, present and future of the Beltline and the neighborhoods it passes through. The second guide serves as a “sweep,” trailing the group to ensure no one strays or falls behind.

Tour guides are asked to commit to leading or sweeping at least one tour a month (or more) in tour season. Tour guides are paid $10 an hour in training and $15 an hour once trained and get an official Atlanta Beltline Bike Tour Guide T-shirt. Candidates should be 18 or over, in good health and have an interest in cycling and the Beltline.

Interested candidates should send an email with qualifications to john@atlblp.org no later than Jan. 15. Information: beltline.org/visit/ atlanta-beltline-tours/#bike-tours
