Bilal in concert

Bilal, the Philadelph­ia-born singer-songwriter, musician and producer, will perform at City Winery Atlanta on Jan. 5-6.

The award-winning performer is known for his creative neo-soul, jazz and R&B sound.

Bilal is classicall­y trained and able to sing opera in seven languages. His interest in jazz was fostered by his father, who took him to the city’s clubs. He attended New York’s New School for Jazz and Contempora­ry Music, where he received voice training, as well as training in jazz and big-band arrangemen­ts.

Bilal’s debut album, “1st Born Second” featured collaborat­ions with Mike City, Robert Glasper, and many of the Soulquaria­ns and reached the Top Ten of Billboard’s R&B albums chart. Both shows are sold out, but Bilal fans can add their names to a waiting list.

“Treasures from the Frederic Remington Art Museum and Beyond”

The Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersvil­le is hosting the largest exhibition of works by Frederic Remington ever in the South. Remington is the world’s best-known Western artist and the country’s leading interprete­r of the West.

The exhibit features more than 60 original pieces of Remington’s work from the Frederic Remington Art Museum, private collection­s and other museums. Important works will be on loan from the Buffalo Bill Center of the West and the Birmingham Museum of Art along with privately owned pieces on loan from several Atlanta area families.

“This exhibition brings together excellent examples of Remington’s work in all of his various media — bronze sculpture, paintings, illustrati­ons, watercolor­s and even his writings,” according to a press release.
