1 Priest sentenced:
A former Pennsylvania priest, one of two clergy members to face criminal charges in a statewide investigation that sparked a national conversation about Catholic sexual abuse, was sentenced Friday to serve up to 14 years in prison. The priest, David Poulson, pleaded guilty before his sentencing.
2 Grim discovery:
Indonesian Navy divers have recovered the cockpit voice recorder of a Lion Air jet that crashed into the Java Sea in October. They hope it could provide answers into why the 2-month-old plane nosedived at high velocity, killing 189 people. Divers also recovered some bodies.
3 Bad weather:
A winter storm that pummeled the mid-Atlantic region over the weekend contributed to at least five deaths. The icy mix knocked out power, cancelled flights and contributed to hundreds of car accidents. The governor of North Carolina declared a state of emergency.
4 Suspect captured:
Authorities have arrested a 21-year-old woman accused of running over a Las Vegas nail salon owner in an attempt to flee without paying for her $35 manicure. An FBI task force arrested Krystal Whipple in Glendale, Ariz.
5 Note found:
The man who shot and killed a rookie California police officer left a letter on the bed in the home where he lived claiming police bombarded him with ultrasonic waves. Authorities say Kevin Douglas Limbaugh killed himself last week after fatally shooting Officer Natalie Corona.
