Exposition Center spot fails probe

- By Pamela Miller For the AJC

The eatery inside the Atlanta Exposition Center failed a recent health inspection. Agora scored 60/U on Jan. 10. Previous scores were 70/C on Dec. 7 and 80/B on April 12.

According to the re p ort, the cook didn’t used proper hand-washing procedures. The cook cracked eggs, retrieved meat from the reach-in cooler, retrieved a vegetable tray from the rear area of the kitchen and then handled to-go plates — all without washing hands in between tasks. Other violations included:

■ Ready-to-eat foods and cooked foods stored directly on top of or among raw meats in the one working cooler. An opened bag of cooked chicken patties and potatoes were stored on a bowl of raw chicken and cooked pasta on open box of raw bacon. The report noted the facility had been advised several times on the proper storage method for raw meats and may be subject to a court citation.

■ A worker washed dishes under running water using a sponge, rinsed them and put them away without using a sanitizer. The proper procedure it to use a three-compartment sink and wash with soapy water, rinse with clean water and submerge in water with sanitizer.

■ Cold-hold foods (spinach salad, leafy greens) were not at required temperature of 41 degrees or lower.

■ Hot-hold foods (sausage patties and links) were not at required temperature of 135 degrees or higher.

Most facilities with failed scores are reinspected within 10 days.
