■ Kids Video Connection Workshop. Saturdays, Jan. 26 to March 2. 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (ages 7 to 12), 1-4 p.m. (ages 13 to 17). $175. Decatur Recreation Center, 215 Sycamore St., Decatur. With support from the DeKalb Entertainment Commission, the six-week series will introduce students to media literacy and video production through project-based learning. They will learn the basic process of creating a video as they work on individual video projects. Under the supervision of a professional producer, students will write and produce their autobiography project. Class sessions will include lectures, interviews and hands-on learning activities, including how to operate a video camera. Support from the DeKalb Entertainment Commission and Emory University’s Film & Media Studies Department has provided scholarships for all students, offering the reduced $175 cost instead of the regular price of $275.
