Buyer’s Edge Where can I find it?

- By Sabine Morrow

You can stop looking

Lately, Lea & Perrins Marinade for Chicken, which is flavored with white wine, garlic and assorted herbs and spices, easily is one of my most requested hard-to-find condiments. Some fans might remember the original from decades ago — Lea & Perrins White Wine Worcestershire sauce. For the past year, readers, including Tim Flanagan, whose family loves this sauce, noticed spotty distribution at best, and were told by their local grocers that the marinade wasn’t available. Devoted cus- tomers, however, were still hopeful that the sauce would somehow be magically available. It isn’t. I spoke to someone at Kraft Heinz and learned that between late 2017 and into early 2018, the company decided to sell all available stock and quit production because there wasn’t enough customer support for Lea& Perrins Marinade for Chicken. You know it’s a lost cause when the product has completely sold out on eBay.

Where can I find the Hawaiian jalapeno rolls? Somehow, the stores don’t carry them anymore. They are the best. Did they discontinue them? — L. Holmes, Atlanta

The good news is that King’s Hawaiian sweet jalapeno dinner rolls have not been discontinued. The less-than-good news is that the com- pany stopped shipping them to stores a few months ago because “they didn’t do very well,” sales-wise. King’s Hawaiian has decided to sell the jalapeno rolls only through kingshawaiian.com. The bad news is that two packages of a dozen rolls each cost $13, not including shipping. You’ll have to order $30 or more to get free shipping.

For the past several years, I’ve been trying to keep household cleaners with toxic chemicals out of my home, not only for me b ut for my p ets. I’m also including gluten as toxic because of allergies, and some cleaners use wheat by-products. I’ve heard very good things about a brand called Murchison-Hume but I haven’t had any luck finding it locally. What I’d like to try is the original fig all-purpose cleaner. If you could find this product for me, my pets and I would be very grateful. Thank you. — M. Sanders, Alpharetta

Murchison-Hume got its start in Australia and now the line of “naturally derived” household cleaning products is made in the U.S. According to the company, its products are free from non-sustainable palm oil-derived ingredients, contain no ammonia, bleach, dyes, formaldehyde, para-b ens or ph th a late sand they’ re never tested on animals. None of the products contain hydro- lyzed wheat protein so they’re all gluten-free. I found Murchison-Hume counter-safe all- purpose cleaner spray in original fig fragrance at The Container Store, 2740 Old Milton Parkway, Alpharetta, 470-2356390. A 17-ounce amber spray bottle costs $8.99. Having trouble finding a particular item? We’ll try to help you locate it. Because of the volume of mail, we cannot track down every request.
