QUICK HITS
1 Young dies: Reggie Young, a versatile and prolific guitarist who recorded with Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson and Dusty Springfield and brought a distinctly Southern flair to a vast range of pop music, died at his home in Leiper’s Fork near Franklin, Tennessee. He was 82. The cause was a heart ailment. Young’s notable credits included Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” and Presley’s “Suspicious Minds.” ■ Hazel Head, the mother of former longtime Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt, has died. She was 93.
2 Guilty plea: Actor Alec Baldwin, 60, pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment on Wednesday following a November dust-up over a parking spot in New York City.
3 Not so fast: The University of South Florida St. Petersburg mistakenly sent out more than 400 acceptance letters for applications. The letters were quickly revoked. Applicants say their excitement died shortly after they got a second email that day that said, “There was an error in the system. Please disregard the previous email.”
Jackson show: A new musical about Michael Jackson — set on the cusp of the iconic but controversial singer’s “Dangerous World Tour” and dealing more fully with his complex legacy than previous endeavors — is headed first to Chicago in the fall and then to Broadway in 2020. Its title, drawn from a 1979 hit single, is “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough.”
5 Testimony postponed: Michael Cohen, the former personal lawyer for President Donald Trump, indefinitely postponed his congressional testimony. Cohen was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight Committee on Feb. 7.
