WHY IT MATTERS

More than 600,000 Georgia households lack access to high-speed internet, limiting opportunities for business growth, education and health care. State legislators are considering a tax on streaming video, music downloads and e-books to raise money to subsidize internet construction in unconnected parts of the state.
