Car safety:

Stunning move:
Dutch fishermen are lobbying lawmakers in a lastditch attempt to avert a European Union ban on the practice of using electric shocks to stun fish before scooping them up in nets. The Dutch fisherman argue that the technique is environmentally friendly because it allows trawlers to use far less diesel; opponents call it industrial fishing that is wiping out fish stocks.
Shoe removed:
Katy Perry’s fashion line has pulled two types of shoes after some people compared them to blackface. The Ora Face Block Heel and Rue Face Slip-On Loafers were released last summer in nine different colors. They included protruding eyes, nose and red lips.
Fatal fire:
A fire engulfeda shoddily built budget hotel in central New Delhi early Tuesday, killing 17 people and injuring at least four others, including a woman from Myanmar who leaped from an upper floor to escape the flames, Indian authorities said.
Arrest:
The boyfriend of a South Florida real estate executive who was found dead from an overdose has been arrested on charges of grand theft and organized fraud. Alejandro Aparicio’s arrest came 18 months after he told investigators he found Andrea Greenburg unresponsive on the couch. A toxicology report blamed her death on fentanyl. Prosecutors contend Aparicio, 60, submitted a doctored will signed by Greenburg and two witnesses that left him as sole executor of the $600,000 estate.
