Markets closed:

Wall Street was closed Monday for Presidents Day. It will resume regular business today.

Brex-split:

One in seven British lawmakers quit the main opposition Labour Party on Monday over its approach to issues including Brexit and anti-Semitism — the biggest shake-up in years for one of Britain’s major political parties. The announcement ripped open a long-simmering rift between socialists and centrists in the party, which sees itself as the representative of Britain’s working class.

Amazon’s footprint:

Amazon, which ships millions of packages a year to shoppers’ doorsteps, says it wants to be greener. The online retail giant announced plans Monday to make half of all its shipments carbon neutral by 2030. To reach that goal, the online retail giant says it will use more renewable energy like solar power; have more packages delivered in electric vans; and push suppliers to remake their packaging.

Airline skit:

A union that represents American Airlines flight attendants is demanding that the carrier investigate a video of a skit that it says demeans women. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants said the skit, which was posted Saturday night on Twitter, included women dressed as flight attendants singing “Big Spender” to a man who was portraying an Executive Platinum customer. Set to the beat of a striptease number, the song from the musical “Sweet Charity” includes suggestive lyrics.

Abe mum:

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe declined to say whether he nominated Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize while praising the U.S. president for“decisive” efforts to resolve the problems of a nuclear-armed North Korea. Abe, who has worked hard to build a personal rapport with Trump, walked a fine line during a parliamentary committee meeting Monday when asked about Trump’s claim from Friday that the Japanese leader had put his name forward for the prize.“I am not saying it’s not true,” he told an opposition lawmaker.
