Q: The Concord Road Covered Bridge in Cobb County has been repeatedly almost hit numerous times since being rebuilt, only being saved by the metal beams outside the entrances. To avoid the beams being hit, are there any advance warnings about the height restrictions and are there any laser type devices that would measure the height of vehicles, trailers and equipment to instantly flash lights and signs to tell drivers that their vehicles are too tall? — LEON E. A: Signs along Concord Road warn drivers about the bridge’s height (7-foot clearance) and that it’s only one lane, according to a Cobb County Government Facebook video.

Another sign senses approaching vehicles that are 7 feet and taller and flashes warnings to turn around.

Large vehicles that won’t clear the bridge can use a roundabout on the north side of the bridge to avoid it. On the south side, drivers can take a left on Covered Bridge Road to avoid the bridge.

Drivers continue to hit the metal beams that protect the bridge, but it “has not been damaged since its 2017 renovation,” the video description states.
