Kennesaw sets road closures for events

Events include July Fourth festivities, races and A Day with Santa.

Road closures were determined by the Kennesaw City Council on Feb. 18 for this year’s special events.

They include:

■ March 9: Touch-A-Truck: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cherokee Street will be closed from Big Shanty Drive to Main Street.

■ Kennesaw Grand Prix race series: Swift-Cantrell Classic, May 11; Dream Dash, June 8; Sports Fanatic, July 6; Hero Run, Aug. 3; Great Locomotive Chase, Sept. 28; and Garden Gallop, Oct. 26. All race times will be between 6 and 10 a.m. from Watts Drive to the intersection of Main Street with Cherokee Street; 6-9:30 a.m., starting at the intersection of Main Street and extending north to the Swift-Cantrell Park entrance; Lewis Street at Main Street; J.O. Stephenson Avenue from Main Street to Little General Cloggers Lane; Moon Station Road at Main Street; Dallas Street from Lewis Street to Main Street; and Park Street at Main Street.

■ July 3: Salute to America, 2 p.m. to midnight. Cherokee Street from Big Shanty Drive to Main Street, Main Street from Lewis Street to Summers Street, J.O. Stephenson Avenue from Main Street to Dallas Street, and Watts Drive from Main Street to the entrance of Revival on Main.

■ Dec. 7: A Day with Santa: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (for Depot Park activities). Cherokee Street from Big Shanty Drive to Main Street. 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Dec. 7 (for parade). Parade will begin at Adams Park, turning left on Watts Drive, left on Main Street (headed north) to Park Street and left on Park Street (back into Adams Park). Road closures will be Park Drive, Dallas Street, Whitfield Place, Moon Station Road, J.O. Stephenson Avenue and Watts Drive.
