Congratulations Dr. Binh Tran
Dr. Binh Tran, Assistant Professor of Information Technology (IT) in the School of Science and Technology at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC), received the 2019 Felton Jenkins Jr. Hall of Fame Faculty Award at the 15th Annual Regent’s Scholarship Gala, held Friday, February 8th at the St. Regis, Atlanta. The award is the University System of Georgia’s highest faculty honor. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at Georgia Tech, Dr. Tran worked in local industry as an IT infrastructure specialist, with experience as a computer hardware engineer, network administrator, designer and test engineering manager. Dr. Tran later earned his Master’s degrees in IT and business administration. He obtained his first teaching job while completing his Doctorate in business administration in information systems. At Georgia Gwinnett College, Dr. Tran teaches courses focused on computer hardware, networking, system administration and cloud computing. His passion for teaching and computers, and his industry experience inspire his innovative, holistic approach to education. “My goal is to transform students into professionals ready for work. I teach both the concepts, hands-on technical and soft skills they need,” Dr. Tran said. GGC honored Dr. Tran last fall with its 2018 Outstanding Teaching Award (Teacher of the Year Award) and he went on to compete at the state level with other colleges and universities in Georgia. The review committee voted unanimously to select Dr. Tran for this tremendous honor award.
