Where Can I Find It?

- By Sabine Morrow

Golden flax seed meal, Gaviscon, Bavarian seasoning,

I have been trying to find Bob’s Red Mill organic golden flax seed meal. For the last several years, I have been able to buy it locally, but no more. I have talked to store managers and they tell me that they cannot sell this product. This is very discouraging. I need this product for health reasons. Could you possibly find where I can purchase this item in North Atlanta? — John Dickey, Roswell

John, that item might be difficult to find, but it’s still available locally, so I’m not sure why you were told that it wasn’t. I found Bob’s Red Mill Golden organic flax seed meal at two places. First, check out Kroger, 2300 Holcomb Bridge Road, Roswell, 678-352-7488. A 16-ounce bag costs $4.19. It’s also in stock at Nuts ‘n Berries, 4274 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, 404-254-0330. A 16-ounce bag of Bob’s Red Mill organic golden flax seed meal is priced at $4.99.

Thank you for keeping us all informed about our favorite products. My husband uses Gaviscon and I used to use Maalox. Both have disappeared from the market and we are wondering why. I can get a similar product with the same ingredients as Maalox, but he has had trouble finding one for his needs. What’s going on here? — Mary Shepherd, Atlanta

Mary, your husband can rest assured that he can find Gaviscon once more. I spoke to a pharmacist at Little Five Points Pharmacy, 484 Moreland Ave., 404-5244466, and I found out that while Gaviscon was unavailable for a while, it’s back in stock. The pharmacy carries Gaviscon extra strength original and cherry flavor. A bottle of 100 tablets sells for $14.39.

At Christmas, I got a delicious seasoning blend called Bavarian from a secret Santa at a neighborhood party. There’s Penzeys Spices Bavarian seasoning provides a savory combination of crushed brown mustard, rosemary, garlic, thyme, bay leaf and sage — but no salt. no way to track it down. It made the tastiest pork roast and the best part was that it didn’t have any salt. It had rosemary, garlic and sage, and I’m not sure what else. It came in a small glass jar that I put in the recycle before writing down the brand. It’s not one I’m familiar with and I found nothing like it at Publix or Kroger. I would be so happy if you could find this for me since I’m not able to replicate the blend. Thank you. — Dottie Martin, email

Penzeys Spices, 6269 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs, 404-256-7970, carries a Bavarian seasoning that blends crushed brown mustard, rosemary, garlic, thyme, bay leaf and sage. It contains no salt and it comes in small glass jars. You can get a 1.5-ounce jar of Bavarian seasoning for $6.95 or a smaller .07ounce for $3.95.
