Atlanta deli fails inspection

- By Pamela Miller For the AJC

An Atlanta deli failed a recent health inspection. Kings Deli on West Peachtree Street scored 66/U on March 1. Previous scores were 96/A on April 27, 2018, and 71/C on April 18, 2018.

According to the report, there were roaches throughout the main kitchen. The person in charge said the restaurant doesn’t use a professional pest control service. That is in violation of the health code. The facility must have the premises treated by a professional service and provide a receipt at the next inspection. Other violations included:

■ Several food items were uncovered and bags of food products were opened throughout the main kitchen area.

■ Sanitizer buckets contained no sanitizing solution when tested.

■ Cold-hold foods (packets of ranch and blue cheese dressings and mayonnaise) were stored at 74 degrees. Cold foods are to be held at 41 degrees or lower.

■ Hot held foods (rice and beef ) were stored at 123 degrees and 95 degrees, respectively. Hot foods are to be held at 135 degrees or higher.

■ Unlabeled food squeeze bottle containers were being used. All food containers must be labeled.

■ The kitchen was dirty, with debris on food storage shelving, on bulk food containers, on refrigerator gaskets, on the sides and shelving for cooking equipment and on hood filters. Floors were dirty with debris, and there were several cracks and holes in the walls.

Most facilities with failed scores are reinspected within 10 days.
