The Fox Theatre Institute will celebrate Georgia’s historic theaters this fall with a benefit concert featuring Drive-By Truckers, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Drivin N Cryin and Dodd & The Councilmen.

DNC frontman Kevn Kinney will host the event, which will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Fox Theatre. Other guests are expected to be announced closer to the show.

The Fox Theatre Institute was founded in 2008 and has committed more than $1.3 million to providing historic theaters with preservation guidance and professional development. The FTI also manages Georgia Presenters, a statewide booking consortium that aids in collaboration among dozens of arts presenters.

Tickets to the concert will start at $35 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via www.foxtheatre.org, the venue box office and by calling 1-855-285-8499. A portion of the proceeds will directly benefit the FTI. Access to the Fox Theatre’s Marquee Club is also available as an add-on of $55 per person.

In his role as narrator of the evening, Kinney will ask the performers and special guests to share their own stories of how performing arts centers have affected their lives – as well as impart his own memories.

“I remember walking through the same doors that my parents did 50 years before and looking up at the Fox Theatre’s grand ornate lobby and feeling like everyone here was special,” Kinney said in a statement. “To me, that’s what makes the Fox Theatre Institute so remarkable. Theaters hold our memories and stories in the walls, where people have laughed, cried and come together. The Fox Theatre Institute helps preserve the fond recollections of a simpler time and represents what community means, and it is an honor for me to support those efforts.” In addition to the concert, attendees will be able to bid on rock memorabilia in a silent auction; proceeds will benefit the ongoing outreach programs of the FTI.
