No new measles cases: The nation’s worst measles epidemic in 27 years could be in its final stages, as a week went by with no new reported cases. The current epidemic emerged about a year ago and took off earlier this year, with most of the cases reported in Orthodox Jewish communitie­s in and around New York City. So far this year, 1,241 cases have been confirmed — a number that didn’t rise last week.

Feds sue for Snowden’s book proceeds: The Justice Department on Tuesday filed a lawsuit seeking the proceeds from Edward Snowden’s book, alleging the ex-National Security Agency contractor violated nondisclos­ure agreements he signed with the government by publishing the manuscript without seeking the required approval.

Houston prepares for Imelda: Officials in the Houston area were preparing high-water vehicles and staging rescue boats Tuesday as Tropical Storm Imelda moved in from the Gulf of Mexico, threatenin­g to dump up to 18 inches of rain in parts of southeast Texas and southweste­rn Louisiana over the next few days. The storm, which formed Tuesday, made landfall near Freeport, Texas, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.

Records say sheriff urged killing ex-deputy: Granville County, North Carolina, Sheriff Brindell Wilkins was indicted Monday on two counts of felony obstructio­n of justice amid allegation­s he discussed killing a former deputy who had a recording of him using “racially insensitiv­e language.”

Teen sentenced to 20 years:A Texas teenager has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for recruiting fighters on behalf of a Pakistanba­sed terrorist organizati­on. Eighteen-year-old Michael Kyle Sewell was sentenced Monday in Fort Worth after pleading guilty in May to a charge of conspiring to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organizati­on.
