1 Argentine voters return Peronistas to power: The Peronista ticket of Alberto Fernández and former president Cristina Fernández defeated President Mauricio Macri in the first round of Argentina’s presidenti­al election on Sunday, a rejection of austerity of the sort that has sparked violent protests elsewhere in Latin America.

2 Victims honored: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday honored the 39 victims who died in a container as the truck driver made his first court appearance after being charged with manslaught­er and conspiracy. Johnson and Home Secretary Priti Patel traveled to the site in southeaste­rn England to sign a condolence book and place a wreath in remembranc­e of the victims.

3 Man admits guilt in mass shooting: The Maryland man accused of killing five in a mass shooting at the newspaper offices of the Capital Gazette has admitted his guilt, days before his trial was slated to begin. Jarrod Ramos, 39, entered his plea Monday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court. The plea is not final until it is accepted by a judge in a proceeding that is ongoing.

4 Woman killed at gender reveal party: On Saturday afternoon, six members of an Iowa family gathered outside a rural Knoxville, Iowa, home for a “gender reveal” party. Among the six was a pregnant woman. But the reveal - which involved a homemade explosive device - went horribly wrong, shooting metal shrapnel toward the family standing 45 feet away. Pamela Kreimeyer, 56, was struck in the head and died.

5 Civil rights attorney dies: John Walker, an Arkansas lawmaker and civil rights attorney who represente­d black students in a long-running court fight over the desegregat­ion of Little Rock area schools, has died. He was 82.
