Buyer’s Edge Where can I find it?
I am looking for Pumpkin on a Stick to use in flower arrangements. I have found them in the past at Trader Joe’s in East Cobb, but they don’t have any. Technically, they are Ornamental Eggplants, or Solanum integrifolium. I would love to have some for the autumn season. Thank you. — Shari Haarala, Marietta
Also known as Pumpkin Tree, Chinese Scarlet Eggplant and Pumpkin Bush, these whimsical mini veggies on stalks are easy to miss in local stores because they come and go quickly. Locally, you’ll still find them at most Trader Joe’s stores, including the location at 4250 Roswell Road, Marietta, 678-560-3585. I spoke to someone at that store who told me they order two cases of Pumpkin on a Stick daily – 20 stalks – as a limited buy item, meaning they won’t stock them for long. They sell out fast, so if you want them, get to the store early. Each stick costs $7.99.
I am looking for Pepperidge Farm hot dog buns, which are made in a “U” shape to hold the frankfurter more securely, so you can top it with chili or slaw without the overflow mess. I know they are sold to restaurants, but don’t know if they are available retail. If so, where? Thank you. — Bob Messina, McDonough
Unlike hot dog buns with a side hinge that open like a box and easily tip over, topsliced, split-top, or New England-style buns (think lobster rolls) won’t wobble when stuffed. Bob, not only are the Pepperidge Farm Bakery Classics top-sliced hot dog buns available locally, but you get to choose from four varieties. Check out Kroger, 5341 Highway 20 S, Covington, 770-7884000, and look for Golden Potato, Sweet Hawaiian, white and butter hot dog buns. Each bag contains eight buns, and they’re priced at $3.49.
I love Orangina, the drink, but no local stores stock it consistently. Publix has it occasionally. Thanks for your guidance. — Chris Lydle, Marietta
Chris, you’ll find Orangina, which now falls under the Dr Pepper Snapple Group umbrella, at most Trader Joe’s stores. In your area, check out Trader Joe’s, 4250 Roswell Road, Marietta, 678560-3585. One liter sells for $2.49.
I am looking for a local source in Atlanta to repair an emotionally valuable family Bible I want to pass down to my grandchildren. Thank you for your assistance. — Jim Bracewell, email
