What’s not working around metro Atlanta

One of the things that get residents upset is when detour signs go up on a famous roadway. That was the case when officials placed signs at the intersection of Ga. 16 and Pylant Street in Senoia. We heard from a concerned commuter who asked what kind of construction was going on at the intersection and when the project would be finished.

We heard from city officials about the scope of the project.

The project, funded by the city and the state, would correct the 38-degree angle intersection with the highway to a 90-degree angle. In their report, DOT officials said the project would also enhance pedestrian activity by the installation of a sidewalk along Pylant Street and provide a pedestrian connection to the city’s park trailhead.

Officials said it would also replace a structurally inadequate bridge culvert over Dead Oak Creek that is located within the Pylant Street approach to Ga. 16 and create a city gateway at the intersection for traffic enter- ing and exiting onto Pylant Street to access the city to the east.

DOT officials said the proj- ect is approximately 1,850 feet in length. City officials expect the project to take a year to complete.

Diane Harris wants a busy intersection fixed.

“A stoplight is needed at the top of the No. 254 exit ramp from I-75 North to Moore’s Mill Road. Currently, there is a stop sign which is inadequate for motorists to safely turn right or especially left onto Moore’s Mill Road. There is a light at the I-75 South exit, but it doesn’t help the I-75 North traffic,” she wrote.

We sent her concerns to the DOT.
