Wife convicted in plot to kill husband
Prosecutors say she tried multiple times to arrange slaying.
A Stone Mountain woman was convicted this week of plotting to kill her husband on several different occasions, officials said.
A jury found Kecia Leann Wright guilty of criminal attempt to commit murder and aggravated assault. DeKalb County District Attor- ney Sherry Boston’s office said she recruited people — including the victim’s own son — to kill her husband, Kentrick Lindo, 46. Lindo died from unrelated causes in 2016 before the trial began, Boston’s office said.
The murder-for-hire plot stemmed from a 2011 incident during which Lindo was shot in the shoulder while driving through an intersection in Stone Moun- tain, according to the DA’s office. Lindo survived the attack, and the shooter was not identified.
Two years later, the couple separated. But in 2014, Lindo’s son and stepdaugh- ter “began disclosing details about multiple attempts on Lindo’s life in an effort for his wife to cash in on his million-dollar life insurance policy,” Boston’s office said.
Investigators learned that Wright had asked Lindo’s own son to stab and shoot his father, and recruited her daughter’s friend to try to kill him.
Wright also attempted to poison him and “concocted additional schemes” to kill her husband, the DA’s office said. Jail records show she was arrested for criminal solicitation in 2015.
DeKalb County Superior Court Judge LaTisha Dear Jackson sentenced Wright to 30 years in prison. A man accused of shooting Lindo in Stone Mountain in 2011 was indicted with Wright as a co-defendant, but he was found not guilty.
