4 more charged with murder along with KSU point guard
In addition to the point guard of Kennesaw State University’s women’s basketball team, four other people have been charged in connection with an Atlanta murder.
Atlanta police told Channel 2 Action News they’re suspected of involvement in the July 16 shooting death of Nashiem Hubbard-Etienne, 21. His body was found in the parking deck of Heritage Station apartments on McDaniel Street in southwest Atlanta.
The four other suspects join KSU basketball player Kamiyah Street, arrested Thursday on eight counts, including murder, attempted robbery and aggravated assault.
Fulton jail records show that Cortez Banks, Johnerton Gilstrap and Tobias Wells were in custody Sunday on murder and aggravated assault charges. Dontacus Brantley was wanted on the same warrant but hadn’t been arrested as of Sunday morning.
No other information about the suspects was available, said Atlanta police spokesman James White. Hubbard-Etienne was “the victim of a targeted shooting,” White said.
Street was suspended from all KSU athletic activities after the university learned of the charges against her. David Beall, KSU’s assistant athletic director for communications, said the team was made aware of the charges against Street on Thursday evening.
“The individual has been suspended indefinitely from all women’s basketball team and athletic activities,” he said Saturday.
“Neither the university nor the athletic department have any additional information at this time.”
Street, a junior who graduated from Mays High School in Atlanta, averaged 21 points and 5 rebounds through the team’s first four games of the season. At 37 minutes per game, only one other player on her team saw more time on the court.
