1 COLLEGE FOOTBALL:

In its fifth season in the FBS, Charlotte is bowl eligible for the first time. The 49ers secured that prize with a 24-13 win over Marshall on Saturday. They were one of two Conference USA teams that earned their sixth victories of the season, with Florida Internatio­nal earning a 30-24 win over Miami. There are 72 teams that are bowl eligible so far and a handful of others on the bubble. There are 78 bowl slots to fill.

2 HOCKEY:

The Nashville Predators said forward Viktor Arvidsson will miss four to six weeks after hurting his lower body when crosscheck­ed during the first period of Saturday night’s 4-2 win over St. Louis. Arvidsson was hit by Robert Bortuzzo at 6:08 of the first period, with the Blues defenseman given only a 2-minute penalty. The NHL announced after the game on Twitter that Bortuzzo would have a player safety hearing Sunday.

3 COLLEGE BASKETBALL:

Justin Roberts had 14 points, six rebounds and five steals as Georgia State defeated California Baptist 69-60 in the 2K Classic in Riverside, California, Saturday night. Kane Williams also had 14 points for Georgia State (3-3). Corey Allen added 10 points, and Damon Wilson had eight rebounds.

4 WINTER SPORTS:

Henrik Kristoffer­sen edged first-run leader Clement Noel to win the first men’s World Cup slalom of the season in Levi, Finland. It was the Norwegian’s 16th career victory in slalom but the first since January 2018. … Austria’s Jonas Mueller won the World Cup luge event in Igls, Austria.

5 HORSE RACING:

With the forecast calling for substantia­l rain in Southern California this week, Del Mar has canceled Thanksgivi­ng Day racing. Track officials they would shift several of the races from Thursday’s card, including the $100,000 Red Carpet Stakes, to expanded 10race cards Saturday and Sunday.
