1 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Iowa State and coach Matt Campbell agreed on a one-year contract extension through 2025. The Cyclones announced Tuesday that Campbell has been locked up for the next six seasons, ending speculatio­n he would be a candidate for any number of job openings.

2 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Miami and South Carolina will play a homeand-home series in 2026 and 2027. The schools announced the games with Miami coming to South Carolina on Sept. 5, 2026, and the Gamecocks playing at the Hurricanes on Sept. 11, 2027. The teams last met in the 2014 Independen­ce Bowl in Steve Spurrier’s last full season as South Carolina coach.

3 LEGAL: Prosecutor­s plan to seek the death penalty against a man being charged with capital murder in the shooting death of the stepdaught­er of a well-known UFC fighter, authoritie­s announced. Lee County District Attorney Brandon Hughes said at a news conference that the capital murder charge is being filed against 29-year-old Ibraheem Yazeed in the death of Aniah Blanchard, a 19-year-old Alabama college student and stepdaught­er of UFC fighter Walt Harris.

4 PRO BASKETBALL: Portland’s Carmelo Anthony winning his 19th NBA player of the week award on Monday pulled him into a tie with Dwyane Wade and Russell Westbrook for the 11th-most in NBA history. At 35, Anthony is also the oldest player to win the weekly award since Tim Duncan, then 38, won the West honor for the final week of the 2014-15 season.

5 SOCCER: The European Championsh­ip is returning to U.S. network television for the first time since 2008. ESPN said that five of the 51 matches will be televised on ABC. In 2008, ABC carried two of 31 games.
