1 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Fresno State coach Jeff Tedford is stepping down from the job after three seasons at his alma mater. The program tweeted a message from Tedford on Friday that read: “It is with a heavy heart that, today, I am announcing that I am stepping down as the head coach here at Fresno State.”The Athletic first reported Tedford was leaving, saying it was for health reasons.
2 COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Indiana coach Tom Allen has agreed to a new seven-year contract worth more than $27 million. The deal announced Friday runs through the 2026 season and will average $3.9 million.
3 PRO BASEBALL: Former New York Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild has been hired in the same position by the San Diego Padres. Rothschild is one of several newcomers on rookie manager Jayce Tingler’s staff. Rothschild spent the past nine seasons with the Yankees before being fired after last season. He replaces Darren Balsley.
PRO FOOTBALL: San Francisco 4 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman said team radio analyst Tim Ryan personally apologized to him and several players for comments Ryan made regarding Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson on a sports talk show. Ryan was suspended by the team for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

The Florida Gators are naming their basketball court after former coach Billy Donovan, who led them to back-to-back national championships, four Final Four appearances and six Southeastern Conference titles during his 19 years in Gainesville. “Billy Donovan Court”will be formally introduced Feb. 15 during Florida’s game against Vanderbilt.
