1 COLLEGE FOOTBALL:

Michigan has hired Brian Jean-Mary as linebacker­s coach, Bob Shoop as safeties coach and elevated Jay Harbaugh to special teams coordinato­r. The Wolverines made the announceme­nts Saturday. Harbaugh, the son of coach Jim Harbaugh, will continue coaching running backs as well. Jean-Mary was defensive coordinato­r at South Florida from 2017-19, and Shoop spent the past two seasons as defensive coordinato­r at Mississipp­i State.

2 SOCCER:

Christian Pulisic’s adductor injury appears likely to keep him out of Chelsea’s lineup until mid-February. The 21-year-old American attacker has not played since a 1-1 draw at Brighton on New Year’s Day. Chelsea plays at Leicester on Feb. 1, and its next league game after that is not until Feb. 17, when it hosts Manchester United.

3 SOCCER:

Gio Reyna became the youngest American to play in the Bundesliga when he made his league debut for Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Aged 17 years, 2 months, 5 days, the attacking midfielder was signed from New York City FC in July, and he went on to score four goals in 11 league games for Dortmund’s under-19 team.

4 BASEBALL:

Former Walmart Inc. Chief Executive David Glass, who owned the Kansas City Royals for nearly two decades before selling the franchise last fall, died this month of complicati­ons from pneumonia. He was 84. The Glass family said the businessma­n died Jan. 9. He had been dealing with health issues for some time.

5 BASEBALL:

Reliever Craig Stammen finalized a $9 million, two-year contract to remain with the San Diego Padres, who hold an option for a third season that could make the deal worth $12 million. Stammen, who turns 36 on March 9, had been a free agent.
