Where Can I Find It?
Engine 2 pasta sauce, a bakery that makes gluten, dairy and nut-free cakes and a clock repair shop.
Would you know of someone that could get our Seth Thomas 1880 clock running again? It is an eightday clock, and my wife, who is blind, counted on the chime to keep her in touch with the time. Any help would be appreciated. — Richard Trainor, Sugar Hill
Richard, I have just the place for you to take your clock to get it back in perfect working order for your wife. The folks at Bowers Watch and Clock Repair, 2441 Cheshire Bridge Road, Atlanta, 404-327-7850, routinely service clocks of that vintage, and they work on many brands, including Seth Thomas. The family-run shop has been in business since 1943. Bowers repairs pendulum and mantel clocks as well as pocket and wristwatches. The company offers house calls for clock repairs.
I’m going to try to cut down on meat and fats this year, and I heard about Engine 2 pasta sauce. I don’t like a real spicy sauce, and I read somewhere that this one was pretty mild and healthy. I’d like to give it a try, but I haven’t been able to find it locally. Would appreciate your help with this. Thanks. — John Peterson, email
John, the Engine 2 pasta sauces come from former Texas firefighter Rip Esselstyn, who wrote the “Engine 2 Diet” book. Esselstyn took much of his inspiration from his father’s research on treating heart disease through nutrition. Engine 2 follows a plant-based diet, thus the slogan, “Plant Strong,” found on jars of the organic tomato- and-basil pasta sauce you’re seeking. A 25-ounce jar of Engine 2 sauce is available for $4.49 at most Whole Foods stores, including Whole Foods 365, 1555 Church St., Decatur, 470-237-7340. Ingredients include diced tomatoes, carrot, sweet potato and garlic puree, basil and oregano. There are no added oils or sugar in the sauce.
I can find a lot of glutenfree cakes, and even vegan bakeries, but I need to find a bakery that prepares various gluten-free and dairy-free baked goods in a nut-free environment since my niece has a severe nut allergy. I’m near Lawrenceville, but willing to drive anywhere in the metro area to find a nutfree bakery. Thank you. — Ev Smith, email
