Cobb hotel fails food service inspection

The food service at a Cobb County hotel failed a recent health inspection. Country Inn & Suites in Kennesaw scored 67/U on Jan. 24. Previous scores were 82/B on May 24 and 74/C on April 11.

According to the report, the front desk staff also does food prep and was unable to answer food safety questions regarding proper temperatures or basic

employee health policy. There was no proof anyone had food safety manager certification.

Other violations:

■ Cold-held foods in refrigerator were not at proper temperatures. It was discarded.

■ A bowl of sausage gravy stored in a refrigerator had no date marking and was covered in mold.

■ There was a spray bottle filled with a bleach solution under a counter in the food service area.

■ Wooden cabinetry surrounding two compartment sink was rotted and falling apart.

■ There were no test strips available to ensure proper sanitizing solution concentration.

■ The refrigerator was dirty with food debris.

■ There was only one functioning light bulb in the kitchen.

Most food service facilities with failed scores are reinspected within 10 days.
